Abbey Wood loveliness

Decided to go a bit further a field today. Have been with the family for walks around LesNes Abbey a few times and ventured in the woods around there that were just covered with billions of chestnuts.

Today we stopped off near Bostall Woods. The area is not completely baby friendly as there seems to be a lack of paths. So I had to cut through the woods. Now normally with hubby in tow that's ok, but alone with baby I felt a little bit scared. No need really as we emerged from the woods unscathed.

I am always amazed at the amount of green around here. And really grateful for the lot that bought up the woods and saved them from being developed. Yay! I am sure old Henry VIII would approve.

The drive to Plumstead was fine until we hit the school run. I really hope that when the LO goes to school, it's within walking distance so I don't have to clog up the roads like those mummycarriers I saw today.

So near, yet so far

Typical Londoner gripe here...

Today I decided to meet an old friend in Greenwich for lunch happy in the knowledge that as it's half term, there wouldn't be much traffic.

How I laugh.

It took me over an hour to get there.

On the way back, I decided to try another route which on the map looked quite fast even though it was well out of the way home. Nearly 2 hours later we got back to our little sanctuary.

The cause of all this distruption? The A2 repairs which I know are very necessary but blimey, my blood pressure took a beating today.

I won't rant and rave about the horrible rude drivers out there. You know who you are and one day you will all get what you deserve!

Woodlands Farm Trust

We needed to escape our house today. I had taken the baby for a strenous stroll a few times this week, stubbornly pushing my way through ice and snow - but the poor thing didn't manage to see much as she was safely tucked up with hat and buggysnuggle and a rain cover!

So we took the car up to the Woodlands Farm. What a splendid treat. Its free although they ask for donations (we didnt' find the bucket so next time, we'll put in double).
The little one got to see lots of chickens including some saved from battery farming, a bearded goat, the cutest shetland pony and loads and loads of sheep. Baa baa baa. Alas both the guinea pigs and oink oink pigs were hiding. Will try to see them next time.

The walk was finished off with watching the duck ice scate! Great great fun. On a warmer day I would be tempted to finish off the afternoon by going to the cafe at Oxleas Wood which has amazing views of London and does decent fare.

Tongue in cheek - a lesson about queues

A small post. As my first post notes, there are some appalling behaviours witnessed round these parts in shop queues.

So I was in Matalan and some lady walked in front of me in to the queue stating that that was her place and that she had just popped off to get something else. This was after I had left the queue earlier since I too had needed to get some more things.

I thought the rule was that if you left the queue, you lost your place and just had to join the end. So this got me thinking, should I be a Victor Meldrew type character and shout I don't believe it and tut loudly? Or should I print out little definitions of the word queue and laminate these. Then when someone wants to push ahead of me, I should smile sweetly and hand them a card. Or should I just let it pass like I do when I see someone who is obviously sans child park in a parent spot.

i know ...life is too short!
